DataPoint: Nursing Home Quality
Nearly 75 percent of voluntary homes qualified for fuding under the 2014 quality pool by placing in the top three quintiles based on their overall scores, while 28 percent scored in the top quintile. When all sponsors are considered, the average overall score was highest in the Buffalo region (52.5) with the Capital District and the Rochester area averages slightly lower, but within a point. The Buffalo region also had the lowest rate of potentially avoidable hospitalizations averaging 5.5 per 10,000 long-stay resident days. The rate in New York City was 6.8. LeadingAge New York is completing the 2014 Nursing Home Quality Initiative (NHQI) benchmarker that allows homes to compare individual measure scores to regional and sponsorship benchmarks. It will be posted to the LadingAge NY Data Page later this week.
