OIG Offers Online Submission of Self-Disclosures

Self-disclosure is for providers who wish to voluntarily disclose self-discovered evidence of potential fraud to OIG. Self-disclosure gives providers the opportunity to avoid the costs and disruptions associated with a government-directed investigation and civil or administrative litigation. OIG updated its Provider Self-Disclosure Protocol in April of this year. Since its 1976 establishment, OIG has had primary responsibility at the federal level to fight waste, fraud and abuse in Medicare, Medicaid and more than 300 other HHS programs.
