OIG to Evaluate Nursing Home Abuse Reporting

OIG is randomly selecting 250 nursing homes nationwide through CASPUR to determine whether facilities are reporting situations of abuse consistent with the regulations. The OIG evaluation will look at whether facilities: 1) Developed and implemented written policies that address reporting allegations of abuse and reporting reasonable suspicions of crimes; 2) Reported that allegations involving abuse occurred; and 3) Complied with federal requirements for reporting such allegations and the subsequent investigation results of those allegations.
