Annual DOH Influenza Advisory
The Department of Health (DOH) has issued an Oct. 5th Health Advisory: Influenza Surveillance and Reporting Requirements, 2015–2016. This is an annual update provided by DOH to summarize and assist healthcare providers, clinical laboratories, local health departments, hospitals, nursing homes, and others with influenza reporting requirements. Highlights of this year’s update include:
- Minor changes for clarity have been made throughout the document; and
- Hospitals, however, should be aware of significant changes in their reporting section.
The period for enhanced influenza surveillance reporting begins the first week in October 2015 and continues through the third week in May 2016. Reporting requirements vary by setting and provider type as detailed in the DOH advisory. Please be sure to carefully review the advisory and ensure that your organization is in compliance with the relevant requirements.
