LeadingAge NY Co-Sponsors Senior Housing Symposium

LeadingAge NY is co-sponsoring with the New York State Association for Affordable Housing (NYSAFAH), Enterprise and the Supportive Housing Network of New York State (SHNNYS) a Senior Housing Symposium on Thurs., Nov. 13 in Albany. The conference will feature two 75-minute workshops on financing senior housing development and rehabilitations and on structuring supportive services for seniors.

LeadingAge NY members and staff will present at the symposium.

10:30 a.m. Welcome & Introduction
Duncan Barrett, Omni Housing Development, NYSAFAH Board President Ex-Officio

10:45 a.m. – Session I
This session will focus on the development process and will touch on predevelopment, design, finance, and regulatory issues in getting senior housing built. It will explore potential reforms and expanding the resources needed to build senior housing more efficiently. Hear from developers, agencies and not-for-profits on how we can all build more and better senior housing in New York.

This session will focus on providing necessary services to seniors to facilitate aging-in-place for coming generations. Focus will be on non-licensed facilities and how best to structure developments in order to ensure the needs of an aging population are being met. Hear from service providers, other states and leading organizations that help advocate for services for this population.
