Senior Housing Symposium Explores Housing Needs and Services
The Council of Senior Centers and Services of New York City (CSCS), in collaboration with LeadingAge and LeadingAge NY, hosted a half-day symposium on Oct. 9, 2013 in Manhattan. The keynote for the half-day policy symposium was Robyn Stone, executive director, LeadingAge Center for Applied Research and senior vice president of Research. The symposium featured two moderated panels that addressed state and city housing needs and issues. Presenters included Dan Heim and Diane Darbyshire from LeadingAge NY and several LeadingAge NY members.
With a theme of “Production, Preservation and Regulation,” the event brought together over 150 attendees from public, private, foundation, governmental, housing and social service organizations. Throughout the symposium, speakers discussed the opportunities and challenges in the development, regulation and preservation of affordable senior housing. CSCS, Enterprise Community Partners, LeadingAge and LeadingAge NY will soon be releasing a report detailing the issues and an action agenda.
