Don’t Forget to Renew HUD Service Coordinator Contracts

Housing providers with HUD Service Coordinator (SC) contracts that expire before 12/31/2015 should submit an extension request to the local field office by August 1.

HUD SC contracts that either expire, or that will have used all funds by the end of 2015, should be sure to get the extensions request to HUD.  HUD staff are currently processing SC contacts that expire sooner. Grantees in these categories should submit their requests and updated budgets to the field office as soon as possible. HUD is using an inflation factor of 1.7%. So grantees can submit a budget with an amount that is up to 1.7% over the previous year contract amount. Grantees can submit their budgets to HUD at any time, but the cutoff date will be August 1.

Written guidance from HUD is expected shortly, but in the meantime, requests for extensions can be submitted with a cover letter and a completed form HUD-91186-A.  Until such time as new guidance is available, please refer to the FY2013 Grant Extension procedures.

Service Coordinator grantees have in the past been required to use available residual receipts prior to receiving additional grant funds. The status of this policy is unclear, since the recent announcement of a new policy regarding PRAC (see article below) residual receipts.   Anyone having difficulty securing funds from residual receipts for SC contract extensions is asked to please advise us.
