LeadingAge NY Member Featured Down Under

Aging services innovators from around the globe came together in Perth, Australia last month to share ideas and strategies for advancing aging services. LeadingAge New York was well represented.

Former LeadingAgeNY Board Member and Housing Cabinet chair Stuart Kaplan, the CEO of New York City-based Selfhelp Community Services, was a featured speaker at a plenary session on elder housing at the 2015 Joint International Conference, sponsored by Aged and Community Services of Australia and the International Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (IAHSA).

Mr. Kaplan participated in a plenary panel entitled Global trends in Housing and Services for Seniors Over the Next Ten Years. He talked about the importance of coordination between housing, social services and health providers, as more people live longer and chose to remain living independently in their homes.

Technological advances are essential in this effort, as Kaplan explained in this video clip taken at the conference, with the Australian Ageing Agenda (yes, that is how they spell “aging” in Australia) and the Aged Care Channel.
