Last Chance to Register for ACF and Assisted Living Advocacy Day!

LeadingAge NY's annual Adult Care Facility (ACF) and Assisted Living (AL) Advocacy Day will be held on Mon., April 28th in Albany. This day of advocacy is an opportunity to talk with legislators and Department of Health (DOH) officials about key issues for ACF/AL providers and the people they serve. It has always been a great opportunity to educate legislators about the complexities of ACF/AL settings, and build critical relationships.

With so much happening in health care, it's essential that policy makers are thinking about the key role that ACF/AL providers will play in the future of long term care.  To that end, we have some key advocacy messages. The day will focus on the assisted living program's eventual transition to managed long term care.  We will also discuss the need for an increase in the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefit, to plant the seed for next year's budget process. We will urge lawmakers to help us enusre that past funds owed to ACFs are finally paid out this year, and help us to expedite Aid and Attendance benefit applications for veterans and their spouses living in ACF/AL settings.  Lastly, we will discuss with the Department of Health key priorities, including our proposal to expand the role of the nurse in ACFs.

Click here to register for the event.  Registration closes on Thursday, April 24.  Issue briefs and talking points will be sent directly to Advocacy Day registrants in the next day or two.  More details are be posted on the ACF/AL Advocacy Day website.
