DOH Announces New Director for ACF and Assisted Living

Valerie A. Deetz, BPS, RN, LNHA, has been appointed the new DOH Director of the Division of Adult Care Facility and Assisted Living Surveillance. Mary Hart, who had held the position, retired on May 22. Ms. Deetz currently serves as and will continue as Director of the Community Transitions Program, which includes work on the transitional adult home inititaive. She is a nurse and licensed nursing home administrator. LeadingAge New York members may be familiar with Ms. Deetz, who has served in various capacities including Deputy Director of the Department's nursing home surveillance program. We have extended congratulations and look forward to working closely with her.
