The Patient and Family Discussion, 10 Steps for What to Say and Do

With generous support from the Milbank Foundation for Rehabilitation, our colleagues at HANYS presents, “The Patient and Family Discussion, 10 Steps for What to Say and Do,” a webconference scheduled for Thurs., Sept. 18 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Dr. Diane Meier, MD, FACP, director, Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC), Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York City will present.

The program is part of a series for health care providers seeking to initiate or expand access to palliative care for patients, residents and families. Participants will learn about the key elements for facilitating these important discussions with patients and their families, with the goals to keep them informed about conditions and what to expect, provide an opportunity to express feelings and concerns, discuss options and expectations and learn about or revisit preferences for care.

The program is free and available to members. Click here to register; the deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 16. If you have questions regarding registration, please contact HANYS Registration Support at learning@hanys.org or at (518) 431-7846.
