DOH Announces Home Care Exchange Pilot Program

Last week, the Department of Health (DOH) issued an invitation and requirements document for Licensed Home Care Services Agencies (LHCSAs) to participate in the NY State of Health Private Pay Home Care Services Pilot Program. To read the 2021 invitation and all related documents, click here.

According to the posting, applicants are requested to submit non-binding letters of interest by July 29thWritten questions will be accepted until July 31st at NYSOHHomeCare@health.ny.gov.

The new initiative is intended to build upon the “marketplace model” and provide private paying consumers with a trusted source through which they can select a home care aide and make arrangement for care with licensed agencies that have met and agreed to criteria under contract with DOH.

The pilot is slated to include Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester counties starting in November 2020, and the State intends to roll out the program statewide in 2021.

As the State refines and expands upon the program, LeadingAge NY will be looking at the eligibility requirements and advocating for opportunities for Certified Home Health Agencies (CHHAs), as well as opportunities for smaller and mid-sized LHCSAs, to participate.

All questions about this invitation may be directed to NYSOHHomeCare@health.ny.gov. Please contact our office if you have questions or comments.
