Free Training: Integrated Pest Management in HUD Multifamily Housing

LeadingAge National has reported that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)-supported StopPests in Housing Program is offering a free, live online course for housing professionals with four sessions to be offered on Thursdays from April 21st to May 12th. The course is designed to help housing professionals understand their role in supporting safe and effective pest control in their communities, including:

  • how to manage pests within a housing community using effective strategies that pose no risk or minimal risk of pesticide exposure;
  • the major health risks posed by common pests;
  • the biology and behavior of the major pests of housing (bed bugs, cockroaches, and rodents); and
  • how to troubleshoot pest control failures.

If five or more staff members from the same HUD-assisted housing site (public housing authority/commission, Section 8, 202, 811, or tribal housing department) complete the course, StopPests will send you a box of pest control supplies including printed resident resources, traps, and monitors. If you have fewer than five staff members or have other questions, contact StopPests@cornell.edu. Visit the course home page for course dates, times, content, and to register for these free sessions.
