Tuesday was the summer solstice, or longest day of the year, and Jewish Senior Life took that opportunity to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Association.

The Rochester organization held a walk from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. with members of their adult day health program.

"It's a day of advocacy and awareness for Alzheimer's disease so the point of the day is to pick something you love and do it from sun up to sun down so we have chosen here at Jewish Senior Life to walk," said Courtney Porray, director of the Clare and Jerry Rotenberg Institute on Aging at Jewish Senior Life.

For those who didn't join in the walk, they sported purple, either with a tie-dyed shirt, a lei, or a sticker.
