Updated PRF Guidelines, Portal Available for Providers

With the Provider Relief Fund (PRF) portal opened as of July 1, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) issued guidance updates from those initially released June 11, aimed at those looking to submit their reports.

Webinars on updated reporting requirements start today with HRSA at 3 p.m. ET and continue in several weeks with LeadingAge’s “Complying with New Provider Relief Fund Reporting Requirements” webinar, 2 p.m. ET on July 27.

PRF recipients need to register in the reporting portal, an approximately 20-minute process. Providers who received one or more PRF payments of more than $10,000 in the aggregate must register through the portal for the first reporting period.

July guidance says reporting requirements now apply to recipients of the Nursing Homes Infection Control Distribution, formerly Skilled Nursing Facility and Nursing Home Infection Control Distribution.

Availability of funds is based on the date the payment is received, instead of previous guidance requiring payments be used by June 30 regardless of when they were received.

For example, those who received PRF payments between April 10 and June 30, 2020, need to submit their first report between July 1 and Sept. 30 of this year. Recipients have a 90-day window to complete reporting.

LeadingAge, which reported updates in a blog post on July 1, recommends providers meet with their auditors and accountants for a consultation, in addition to reading HRSA resources fully.

HRSA administers the PRF program for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
