CMS Approves Temporary Extension of State's MRT Waiver

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has approved New York's request for an extension of its 1115 Medicaid Waiver through March 31, 2022. The letter approving the temporary extension indicates that during the extension period, CMS will work with the State to re-base the budget neutrality calculation included in the waiver. The State's application sought a three-year extension that would continue all programs, eligibility standards, benefits, and cost-sharing requirements. It would also make certain technical amendments to allow for benefit carve-outs enacted under last year's budget. The letter accompanying the extension application also signals that the State will be submitting a new demonstration proposal and concept paper.

CMS is accepting comments on the waiver extension until April 23rd. They can be submitted here.
