Feb. 24th Webinar for NYC ACFs and Nursing Homes Regarding FEPA

As reported in January, the Department of Health (DOH) is initiating its annual health care facility emergency planning efforts for coastal storms, floods, and non-coastal storms. Providers (hospitals, nursing homes, and adult care facilities (ACFs)) in New York City (NYC) are required to review and complete the Facility Evacuation Planning Application (FEPA) no later than March 31, 2021. Click here for more background and resources regarding the FEPA.

We wanted to share information regarding a webinar TOMORROW, Feb. 24th, to review the FEPA and requirements for NYC nursing home and ACF providers. See below for more information.

Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA) Continuing Care will host a New York State Department of Health (DOH) training webinar on February 24, 2021, to educate skilled nursing and adult care facilities in New York City on the Facility Evacuation Planning Application (FEPA) ahead of a March 31, 2021, deadline for regulated healthcare facilities to refresh their FEPA data.

GNYHA Continuing Care expects to issue continuing education credits for skilled nursing facility administrators that complete the Webinar – more details on which may be found, below:

Background

FEPA is a planning tool designed by the New York State Department of Health (DOH) to log evacuation planning information, chiefly related to evacuation and patient send/receive arraignments. The tool serves as an all-hazards planning tool for all of New York State.

As in years’ past, healthcare facilities across New York State – including skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) and adult care facilities (ACFs) – are required to complete an annual update of FEPA data, and New York City facilities that do not complete this exercise by the end of March can be sanctioned by DOH.

The Webinar will offer long term care leadership an overview of the FEPA software and related 2021 coastal storm and flood planning requirements. Please ensure that staff from NYC-based SNFs and ACFs – particularly those responsible for evacuation planning and response, as well as repatriation – attend the training.

Continuing Education Credit Available

It is expected that one hour of continuing education (CEU) credit will be available for participating nursing home administrators. Should you have interest in securing such credit, please follow CEU registration protocols: GNYHA Continuing Care will affirm credits validly earned following the program’s completion.

Should you have questions, please contact GNYHA Continuing Care.
