DOH Issues FAQ Document for EQUAL Application

Earlier this month, the Department of Health (DOH) activated the application for Enhancing the Quality of Adult Living (EQUAL) Program funding; click here to view the Dear Administrator Letter (DAL). The Department has subsequently issued this Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document, which addresses questions raised regarding the application process. The document also provides a link to a recorded training regarding the application. It should be noted that there are some minor changes to the process, so we encourage members to review the training and FAQs. Members are reminded that the application must be submitted by 5 p.m. on June 15th; late submissions will not be accepted.

LeadingAge NY has been working to try to address some of the problems members have experienced with the EQUAL process. We invite member feedback on the changes to inform our work with DOH.

Background

Operators of Adult Homes and Enriched Housing Programs who provide services to individuals receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), State Supplemental Program (SSP) benefits, Safety Net (SN) assistance, and/or Medicaid (with respect to residents of assisted living programs) are eligible for EQUAL Program payments. The purpose of this program is to enhance the quality of care and life experience for those residents. Funding is utilized to improve or expand services and/or enhance the facility’s physical environment.
