ADHC Transportation Advocacy Success!
We learned this morning that the Legislature agreed to buy back the $4.1 million administrative cut to ADHC transportation. For the fourth year, we successfully defeated the proposal to eliminate Method 1 transportation!
This is another big win for ADHCC and Method 1 programs. Your phone calls and personal meetings with your elected officials were incredibly important and influential. Thank you to all of the members who attended Advocacy Day, made appointments and phone calls to the district office. We are also very appreciative to the transportation vendors who stood with us.
Please call your local representatives (Albany or district office) and thank them for protecting ADHC transportation.
The Department of Health continues to push for mandatory Method 2 transportation. They feel Medical Answering Services (MAS) is the most effective and cheapest way to transport ADHC registrants. We have heard many horror stories from you about MAS. We urge all of you to register complaints with MAS and then share your complaints with your legislator whenever there is an adverse event or disruption of service. Personal stories on MAS service and care made a huge impact on getting this proposal defeated. Let’s continue to monitor MAS so we stay prepared for next year’s budget fight.
I can’t stress enough how important it is to build a relationship with your state representatives. Please remember to thank your legislator for buying back the $4.1 M ADHC transportation budget cut. While you have their attention, invite them to an upcoming event or invite them to tour your program. We had both Senate and Assembly bi-partisan support on this issue!
