DOH Sponsors Webinar to Address MDS Coding Errors

The most recent round of audits by the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) has been the most challenging so far for many providers. Some of the recent interpretations of the MDS coding rules have been controversial and seem contrary to long-standing interpretations of the RAI manual. LeadingAge NY has been advocating with the Department of Health (DOH) for clarification of coding rules and the provision of education and guidance to providers and OMIG staff.

DOH webinars entitled, “MDS 3.0 Common Coding Errors” are scheduled for Wed., Dec. 3 and Wed., Jan. 7, 2015. This training was developed by DOH, in partnership with the University of Albany School Of Public Health, from errors identified during the OMIG auditing process and offers strategies for providers to improve accuracy in this area.

Each webinar will only have one hundred lines available, so facilities are encouraged to register early and are limited to one line per facility. Click here to register via the School of Public Health website.
