Coaching for the Frontline Supervisor Series

Coaching for the Frontline Supervisors series is geared to administrators, supervisors and managers.

WHY SHOULD YOU LISTEN?

  • Supervisors face incredibly difficult challenges developing and maintaining effective teams. Most have not received formal management training and therefore struggle in these positions.
  • Improvement in your supervisory skills enhances the quality of care given to the residents which affects your survey results and your 5 Star rating.
  • Program material will be applicable to all providers working in the nursing home and assisted living settings.

There are three programs that comprise this pre-recorded audio series. The sessions are designed to build upon each other, although you may choose to take either one, two or all three of the sessions.

PART I: MAKING CRUCIAL CONNECTIONS THROUGH COMMUNICATION Click here to register

Date recorded: November 16, 2010 (Length of session: 90 minutes)

“What this place needs is better communication.” You’ve probably heard this complaint more than once. Why? Because communication affects everything! Successful relationships, teams, marketing, customer service and systems rely on good communication. In order to improve this exchange of information within an organization, individuals must first become good communicators.

In “Making Crucial Connections through Communication” participants will:
• Discover important truths about their own communicate style,
• Make the crucial connection to how their behavior affects others, and
• Determine what changes they can make in order to improve communication within their own organization.

If poor communication keeps your organization from reaching its full potential, then you’ll want to participate in “Making Crucial Connections through Communication”!

PART II: DEVELOP AND LEAD WINNING TEAMS Click here to register

Date recorded: December 7, 2010 (Length of session: 90 minutes)

Studies have shown that important organizational outcomes result from strong, engaged teams. Individuals, who consistently work well together toward a common goal, accomplish so much more than any one individual ever could. As leaders, we hope that we’re fortunate enough to lead such teams. However, fortune has little to do with it! Winning teams are a result of hard work and effective leadership influence!

In “Develop and Lead Winning Teams” participants will:
• Discover the importance of shared, purposeful vision,
• Gain tools to build trusting relationships, and
• Learn and practice steps of powerful recognition.

By participating in “Develop and Lead Winning Teams” you will take an important step in increasing your own team’s success!

PART III: THE OPPORTUNITY OF CONFLICT Click here to register

Date recorded: January 18, 2011 (Length of session: 90 minutes)

By viewing conflict as an opportunity, winning teams can make crucial connections through communication in order to find satisfactory solutions. However, if not handled appropriately, conflict can become a collision between defensiveness and ineffectiveness. According to Coach K of Duke University “confrontation simply means meeting the truth head-on.” So how does one enter into a confrontation that is honest and effective in order to resolve conflict? By utilizing information presented in “The Opportunity of Conflict”!

At the conclusion of this session, individuals will:
• Develop skills which build safe environment for differing opinions to be discussed,
• Learn a technique called “leveling,” and,
• Practice 3 steps of giving feedback.
