The Palliative Care Access Act: What Does it Mean for You?
Format: Audio conference
Date/Time: February 7, 2012, 10:30 a.m. - noon
Program Summary:
LeadingAge NY in collaboration with the Hospice and Palliative Care Association of NYS is hosting this audio conference to ensure the association members have a comprehensive knowledge of the new palliative care law enacted in 2011. The new law established responsibilities for home care, nursing homes, enhanced assisted living residences (EALRs), special needs residences (SNALRs), and home care entities associated with assisted living programs (ALPs) to assist the people they serve in accessing palliative care. This session will provide participants with an understanding of the new law and how it works with the Palliative Care Information Act, which relates to physician responsibilities to share information about these services with their patients. Participants will gain an understanding of what this new requirement means for their day-to-day work with residents and consumers, and the implications for each long term care service line.
Target audience:
- Administrative staff in SNFs, assisted living programs (ALPs), enhanced and special needs assisted living residences (EALRs and SNALRs) and home care.
