LeadingAge NY Releases Comprehensive Budget Report

Last week, LeadingAge NY issued this comprehensive budget report on the final 2014-15 State Budget. It is important to note that the report has been updated with new information since its original release. It was initially reported that the final budget did not authorize a Federal Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients for January of 2015. It was since discovered that the final budget does in fact authorize this pass-though, but it is now being reported in a different section of the budget bills. Despite the confusion, this is good news and we anticipate that SSI recipients will see an increase in their benefit in 2015 if a Federal COLA is instituted.
